Hong Kong lawmakers pass controversial China

Ahead of the vote, two legislators were taken away by security guards after throwing a foul-smelling liquid on to the chamber floor. They said they were protesting against China's growing control over Hong Kong, and also marking the anniversary of the 1989 Tiananmen Square crackdown. Police have banned an anniversary vigil citing coronavirus measures. Officers have erected barricades around Victoria Park, where the vigil was set to take place but some pro-democracy protesters have defied orders not to congregate, knocking down barriers and holding candlelit gatherings.
